Apr 2024
Our tour will start at our hotel, Hotel Jedermann, at noon. After checking in, we will catch lunch at Munich's open-air Viktualienmarkt and spend the afternoon with a detailed historical walking tour, but with lots of refreshment stops. After a hearty Bavarian dinner, we'll send you off to bed a little earlier than normal so you can rest up for the big day tomorrow!
Day 2
01
May 2024
It will be an early morning as we head out to witness the traditional raising of the Maibaum. Everyone is in their Tracht and the ladies of the village have baked cakes for sale. With any luck, we'll get to see a traditional band and sip on some Helles as we watch the local men raise the giant white & blue pole in their village. In the evening, we head to Frühlingsfest and have reserved seats at BayernLand Festhalle. Another band and tasty Augustiner Beer. Don't worry, you're hotel is just a stone's thrown away!
Day 3

The city of Mozart beckons for a visit! 2 hours away on the train, we'll show you some of the locations from the Sound of Music as well as Mirabell Palace and the Old Town. On top of the history, Salzburg offers great food and drink: Join me at Sporer for some homemade Schnapps, Fürst for the best Mozart Balls, or the Hotel Sacher for torte and coffee. For dinner, we'll enjoy a wonderful beer hall, the Augustiner Bräustübl zu Mülln - grab a stein off the shelf, rinse it out yourself and have it filled with fresh beer - an authentic experience!
Day 4
03
May 2024
Atfer breakfast at the hotel we make the pilgrimage to the "Holy Mountain." Many Bavarians say that if you had just one day to experience Bavaria, you should spend it at Kloster Andechs. This historical site, still run by Benedictine Monks, offers art, architecture, and spiritual refreshment. The Bräustuberl offers more earthly refreshments - the Doppelbock beer is world-famous and many come from miles around to eat the Schweinehaxe. Its hard to explain why Andechs is so special, but you are sure to agree that it is a very special place. In the evening we are back in Munich at the famous Weisses Brauhaus downtwon. Featuring the first privately produced Weissbier, this classic bavarian Wirtshaus is still maintained by the Schneider family. Will you agree that the Orginal Tap 7 is the world's best Weissbier?
Day 5
04
May 2024
You have several options today - choose what you would most like to do with your day: 1. Neuschwanstein Castle: Book a trip to the royal castle of Neuschwanstein, thought to be the inspiration of Walt Disney. This one can be a bit physical challenging as you climb the hill and many stairs in the castle. 2. Dachau: Book a trip to visit this infamous concentration camp. 3. Hiking with Scott: Take a ride to Garmisch with Scott, weather permitting, and ride up the mountainside and hike down through the Partnachklamm slot canyon. Beautiful and unique mountain views!

Oktoberfest in Bavaria

We offer small, personalized tours and guide you through the intricacies of visiting Munich's world famous Oktoberfest. Our tour shows you the traditional side of Oktoberfest - all the charm and details that have made this festival famous.  Since we've been doing this for years, we have reserved tables in the Beer Tents! With us, you are guaranteed a seat with your companions!

Oktoberfest is the most famous celebration of beer, but it began as a wedding celebration for Ludwig I in 1810 and marked the first time that the Royal family invited the commoners along to the party. Each of Munich six breweries are represented at the Festival with a "Tent." These tents are enormous structures than can hold up to 10,000 people at a time. At the center is an elevated stage where the band plays. They are surrounded by tables where the guests sit and each tent offers excellent food - Roasted Chicken, Pig Knuckle, and Ox are the favored treats. The guests pass the time drinking, eating, and dancing on the benches. Outside the beer tents there is much to be seen. A large carnival with rides surround the beer tents. Many, many people are attired in the traditional Bavarian Garb - Lederhosen for the men and a Dirndl dress for the ladies. It's a wonderful atmosphere, full of fun. So, join us for the Munich Oktoberfest!

Insider Tip: Consider coming for Starkbierfest. The airfare is cheaper, the hotel rooms are cheaper, and so is the beer. It's even more traditional than the Munich Oktoberfest and isn't as crowded. See my page here for details!
